iPlayer on the BBC is now available in HD (high definition) for you to stream over the web to your computer. I think this is a brilliant idea as long as you have a computer that can handle HD content playback, some computers can't you know! Also a fast Internet connection with a nice chunk of bandwidth always helps.
As you might have also noticed by now more and more video on the web is going HD, for example YouTube now supports 720p uploads.
I personally think that as HD content increases and high bandwidth web app's start to appear on the internet as well as the ever growing online gaming industry that ISP's (Internet Service Providers) will have to seriously start considering fiber optic connections. We are talking speeds of up to 100mbps (megabits per second), thats about 12 megabytes a second! Very fast! But we have quite a wait until we reach those speeds in the average home.
Thanks for reading, and leave a comment, even if you're just saying hello
